History of Sega in Mongolia |
---|
In 1990, the democratization of communist Mongolia began, and video games began to appear in the country.
Famiclons appeared first which Mongols began to call khujaa (хужаа) because they were imported from China. The most common were those produced by Subor.
The first Sega consoles were imported in 1998. Sega Saturn and Sega Mega Drive appeared in the country. Despite the fact that Mega Drive was already discontinued in the world, it was more recognizable than Saturn mainly due to the appearance of Taiwanese counterfeit games and later consoles.
Nowadays, Mongolian media attribute the Sega console unleashing a wave of popularity for video games, which according to them results in today's addiction to the games of many Mogul players.[1][2]
