History of Sega in Venezuela |
---|
Official Sega distributor(s): Unknown (199?-2002) Latam Games (2012-present) |
In Venezuela, Sega's products before the Genesis weren’t released by a distributor in that country due to the country's history with imports, and Venezuela was one of the countries that used NTSC as its tv standard. Sometime during the 1990s, SEGA would get fame across the rest of South America thanks to a unknown distributor. That distributor went bankrupt in 2003 due to SEGA shifting away from consoles or the rise of imports from rivals such as Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft or combat of piracy itself. Latam Games distributes Sega games in Venezuela from 2012[1]. The company also cooperated with NC Games[2].
