Hong Kong uses the PAL-I television standard - all Asian specification boxes with this label were likely intended for this country (or Macau). Before 1997, Hong Kong was under the British Empire which used PAL standards.
WKK has been distributor of Sega since 1986 starting with Sega Master System. Mega Drive was distributed by WKK with help of few authorized distributors like Jade Company and Beautiful Gate Industries from 1990.[1][2] In 1991, Sangokushi Retsuden: Ransei no Eiyuutachi and Warrior of Rome were translate and release here.[3]WKK was also responsible for distribution of Game Gear, Mega CD, Sega 32X, Sega Saturn and Sega Dreamcast. Wharf Holdings announced an agreement with Sega Digital Communications in October of 1995 to broadcast Sega Channel in Hong Kong. The Dreamcast came to the region using the PAL-D standard. This was after 1997, when the British traded Hong Kong to China.
Sega PC games were distributed by Typhoon Games, New Era[4][5]Shanda Games[6], and AtGames.[7] In 2010s, Sega created Sega Asia which handle regional releases of games, but not physical distribution. In 2018, Epicsoft Asia was appointed sole distributor of Sega games starting with Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, Shining Resonance Refrain, Valkyria Chronicles 4, Fist of the North Star and Virtual-On.[8]
