History of Sega in Philippines
Official Sega distributor(s): New Era (2006-2019), Epicsoft Asia (2018-present), Sega Singapore (2022-present)

In the 70s Philippines was one of the countries where Sega imported its game machines.[1]

Sega began releasing it's consoles from early 1990s. The Philippines, along with Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Myanmar, are the only countries using the NTSC system in Asia. The first console was the Sega Mega Drive and it was taken from Japanese stocks, which mention the compatibility with Philippines on the box. For next consoles, Sega marked them as "NTSC Asian Specification". As in other regions of Asia, clones and bootlegs were not uncommon.

New Era Philippines from 2006 to 2019 was a distributor.[2][3]

In 2010s, Sega created Sega Asia which handle regional releases of games,[4] but not physical distribution.

In 2018, Epicsoft Asia was appointed sole distributor of Sega games starting with Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, Shining Resonance Refrain, Valkyria Chronicles 4, Fist of the North Star and Virtual-On .[5] From 2019, they distributed Genesis Mini.[6]

In October 13, 2022, Sega established Sega Singapore for marketing purpose in Southeast Asia but Epicsoft will still remain as distributor.[7][8]
