Sega Retro always needs improvement. This is a centralised (if unorganised) list of things to do. Primarily this involves making a page whenever you see a red link. Anyone is welcome to contribute. You may also edit this page as you see fit.

Wiki bugs
Admins pls
- Many, MANY reports of new users unable to edit because of the spam filter. --SorachiJirachi (talk) 18:02, 10 January 2023 (EST)
- Cache not refreshed on page save. --SorachiJirachi (talk) 18:02, 10 January 2023 (EST)
- Thumbnails for big images can't be generated. Most LaserActive scans are breaking something. CartridgeCulture (talk) 00:35, 19 June 2022 (EDT)
- Nested lists have extra blank lines. This can be fixed by removing the
list-style-position: inside
property on#mw-content-text ul
(and then maybe adjusting the margin or padding on lists to compensate, though I think it looks fine as it is).
- You could put a fix Mediawiki:Common.css but it would be better to fix this further up -Black Squirrel (talk) 17:55, 25 June 2023 (EDT)
- File:Dreamcast Collection Limited Edition Vinyl Front.jpg and File:Dreamcast Collection Limited Edition Vinyl Back.jpg are having "insufficient memory" errors when generating thumbnails. --SorachiJirachi (talk) 15:21, 8 July 2023 (EDT)
- Fantasy Zone and various technical information sub-pages are exceeding the maximum number of loops. --SorachiJirachi (talk) 12:51, 9 August 2023 (EDT)
Probably fixable
- AS-1 developers/publishers/etc aren't being pulled by automated templates like CompanyHistoryAll. CartridgeCulture (talk) 20:34, 10 July 2023 (EDT)
- The "handhelds" link in the "We cover everything/Games" section links to Consoles, not Handhelds. CartridgeCulture (talk) 00:35, 19 June 2022 (EDT)
- References in the division= field of the Employment template don't seem to be displaying their numbered marker. CartridgeCulture (talk) 21:42, 16 January 2023 (EST)
- The front page doesn't show all released games sometimes such as Shanghai II: Dragon's Eye being released today (01-11) but not showing up on the "Released on this day" field. JaxTH (talk) 09:30, 11 January 2023 (EST)
- Multiplatform Steam games like The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog have production credits which point to both Steam and Steam OS X. As a correction, the current system name is macOS, but more importantly, how are we resolving this? Have the Steam article list macOS titles too? Make both pages and rename Steam to Steam (Windows)? I guess the question is "Should we break up multisystem platforms by system?" Probably not, but this is a small issue that eventually needs addressing. CartridgeCulture (talk) 05:48, 25 July 2023 (EDT)
- If multiple "image" fields are used for Template:InfoRow, the respective cell in the table isn't extended like it usually is for "screenshot" and "sprite" fields. --SorachiJirachi (talk) 15:20, 4 August 2023 (EDT)
- The HiddenContent template doesn't work with audio or video files. CartridgeCulture (talk) 22:01, 29 August 2023 (EDT)
- Need a way of doubling up medal/prize/kiddy ride games so they also appear as System C2/ST-V/discrete logic titles (or whatever). Not sure how to do this cleanly yet. -Black Squirrel (talk) 15:57, 12 August 2023 (EDT)

Saturn
- Main article: Unreleased Saturn games.
- Copkiller (after light research: this "game" was included in early SAT unreleased games lists which contained a lot of copy/paste errors (i.e. "Super Motocross Motherbase" (32X)), and these lists appear to use early SoA press releases for sources. This press release features the phrase "...Virtua Cop, killer sports titles...", and given how punctuation seems to be where these lists split their broken listings, this might be our Copkiller. Because SoA would 110% never license a game called Copkiller.)[27]

Newspapers
- Link
- Google has a stock of digitised newspapers from across history. Newspapers are a good source, though unlike gaming magazines, I don't think Sega Retro is set to benefit much from complete, cover-to-cover scans. I've started uploading single pages onto Retro CDN - it may need organising at a later date but I'm too lazy now. Unfortunately Google doesn't offer the ability to download single pages as PNGs, so I've had to painstakingly stitch screenshots together. The results are good and it's easy enough to do, but it takes a while, so it's definitely a job worth sharing. -Black Squirrel (talk) 15:10, 28 November 2016 (CST)

- This mostly lines up with my own research (it looks like we dipped into several of the same secondary sources) but does differ from my own work on some things: I show parts of Standard Games (specifically its distribution network) sold off to Stern post-dissolution in 1949-1951, they briefly mention shell companies but don't go into many of them (Service Games Panama becoming COSI, SARL, that weird one out of the Boston area, Segasa, etc.), only a passing mention of Nesor-Rosen in Rosen Enterprises, good to know I'm not the only person utterly confused by Nihon Goraku Bussan Scarred Sun (talk) 19:15, 6 August 2015 (CDT)

- I've got a lot less free time than I had, and I'm not able to keep up with this anymore. Ruten is a Taiwanese auction site which has all sorts of wacky gems, but if you don't grab the photos quickly the item can be bought and de-listed. It's not like eBay where a record sticks around for a while. This is where all the photos of multi-carts, bootlegs and weird peripherals come from. -Black Squirrel (talk) 15:10, 24 June 2015 (CDT)
