PAGENAME (光吉 猛修) is a Japanese musician and Sega of Japan composer. He is well-known for producing some of Sega's most memorable soundtracks, and for personally acting as the vocalist and announcer on a number of critically-acclaimed releases for both arcades and consoles. Mitsuyoshi's passionate singing style, most notably featured in Daytona USA, has resulted in him becoming one of the company's most recognizable and prolific musicians over several decades.

Biography
+
Career
Takenobu Mitsuyoshi started out in the field of sound creation by following his dream of creating music. He held a particular interest in the genre of game music, and was thrilled to have been given the opportunity to work in this field with Sega. Joining the Sega team in 1990 not only allowed him to create music in his favorite format, but it also offered him the chance to be a part of the celebrated S.S.T. Band (Sega Sound Team), a live performance band employed by Sega to perform games music of its arcade games.

PAGENAME was born in Fukuoka, Japan on December 25, 1967. Enjoying video game music beforehand as well being very active in various music activities since junior high all the way to university, he became part of Sega's sound creation from 1990 onwards. After early composing on arcade titles for Sega AM2, what would become perhaps his career-defining moment at the company soon came in 1993, when he chose to add vocals to his work for Daytona USA to make the game's music stand out more.

Having done some work on previous Sega games, the first major project he wrote the majority of the music for was in 1994, working on the game, Virtua Fighter 2. It was around that time that he did the music and vocals for Daytona USA as well.
+
Mitsuyoshi's credits subsequently varied from both further arcade releases (Sega Rally Championship) to console games (Burning Rangers), and talents increasingly versatile. His activities now range across composing, arranging, sound directing, making sound effects, providing bass, motion talent, voice acting (e.g. in-game announcements) and vocals. As one of the most senior employees of Sega, he together with Hiroshi Kawaguchi manages its sound team, as well as forming an integral part of the (H.) band.

Mitsuyoshi’s work on these games propelled him even further on his musical path with Sega. In the 1999 highly acclaimed release, Shenmue, Mitsuyoshi once again demonstrated his expertise by creating a soundtrack of over 20 songs and more than 200 other pieces to be used throughout the game. Continuing this tradition of excellence, he went on to compose for Shenmue II, which was released in 2001.

Takenobu Mitsuyoshi (光吉 猛修) is a Japanese musician and Sega of Japan composer.

Career

TakenobuMitsuyoshi SST 2001.jpg

Takenobu Mitsuyoshi was born in Fukuoka, Japan on December 25, 1967.
